BRIT Awards Results

The awards took place last night and below are the list of winners. Looks like I didn’t do too badly with my predictions!! Haha, ok I know I did terribly, but that’s more likely a reflection of my music taste than my psychic skills. I try to be down with the kids, yet I fail miserably *sob* – personally I don’t agree with some of the award winners, but ssh, don’t tell anyone! Lady Gaga was the top winner of the night, winning all three categories she was nominated for. And no surprise, her outfit was as extraordinary as usual. Despite this, we still love you Gaga!

  • British Male Solo Artist: Dizzee Rascal
  • British Breakthrough Act: JLS
  • British Group: Kasabian
  • MasterCard British Album: “Lungs” – Florence and the Machine

BRIT Awards

The BRIT Awards are on tonight, ITV at 8pm, with a great variety of performances ranging from Cheryl Cole to Jay-Z to JLS (woo!). So who do you think deserves to win each award? Categories range from Best Female Solo Artist to the best BRIT’s Album of the Past 30 Years. My bets are on Coldplay winning that award for their “Rush Of Blood To The Head” album. What a classic. I know it’s the “BRIT’s” but there are a number of awards for International Artists. You can see all nominations for each award right here. But in the meantime, below are my predictions for who’ll win what…we’ll see if I’m right later on this evening!

  • British Female Solo Artist – Leona Lewis
  • British Male Solo Artist – Calvin Harris
  • British Breakthrough Act – JLS/Pixie Lott
  • British Group – JLS
  • MasterCard British Album – Dizzee Rascal – Tongue ‘nCheek
  • British Single – This one’s a toughie as there are a range of popular songs here. I reckon Cheryl Cole will win this one for “Fight For This Love.”
  • BRITs Album of 30 Years – Coldplay “A Rush Of Blood To The Head”
  • The BRITs Hits 30 – Micheal Jackson, “Earth Song”
  • International Female Solo Artist – Lady Gaga vs. Rihanna – I think Lady Gaga will come out tops though!
  • International Male Solo Artist – Jay-Z all the way
  • International Album – Black Eyed Peas “The E.N.D”
  • International Breakthrough Act – Lady Gaga

Do you agree with my predictions? Comment below!

Belated V’s Day

Happy Belated Valentines Day! A few recordning artists have decided to give us a few gifts to celebrate the day, in the form of music. Firstly the Bilz and Kashif have recorded a Bed Rock remix entitled Candy Girl, which I am loving. The original is great but Kashif’s voice on this song gives it the asian vibe. I’m a big fan of these boys, their remixes always add a touch of something new to chart songs. If you like the video below, you may want to click here and listen to another favourite remix of mine by them, entitled ”He’s Nothing But A Loser” sampling the music of Soulja Boys’ “Kiss Me Thru The Phone.”

Also, Navin Kundra shares a cover version of “Main Yahaan Hoon“ from the film Veer Zaara.

Song of the week…

For this week, it’s got to be “I Made It” by Kevin Rudolph, Birdman, Lil Wayne and Jay Sean. I cannot get this song out of my head at the moment! Kevin Rudolph is signed onto Cash Money Records and it probably most known for his song “Let It Rock” which was on the Wrestlemania XXV soundtrack. “I Made It” is also supposed to be an official theme song of Wrestlemania XXVI. I’m sure you’ve at least heard it once before, but here’s the video for you…

Sharukh Khan on Jonathan Ross

Sharukh Khan was one of the guests on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross last night on BBC1. If you missed the interview, you can catch up here on iPlayer for the next week. I myself watched it and found the interview very amusing, Sharukh did give me and my mum some good chuckles!

Sharukh is currently out promoting his new film “My Name Is Khan,” directed by Karan Johar and with co-star Kajol, with whom he is re-united with after eight years. The film is due for release in cinemas this month and is about a journey across America after 9/11 in order to tell the President that he is not a terrorist and cannot be classed as one just because of his name “Khan.”

Bollywood Flashback #1

My apologies for the lack of posting! I’ve been going through a crisis, trying to deal with the loss of my iPod. It’s taken some time to recover and my iPod shall never be the same again as the injuries it has sustained have resulted in the screen being damaged, hence no Friday playlist. But all is not lost! I can still listen to music, but just can’t see a thing I’m doing on it or what I’m listening to but I promise the Friday playlist will be back this week!

Anyway, on to today’s post. I’m going Bollywood on you and we’re going to have a flashback as the title of the post has most likely told you. You all have to admit that old school Bollywood was a bit “out there” at times. The video I’ve chosen for you all to watch today is one of Amitabh Bachchans films. The Big B can do no wrong…except he likes to dance in front of incoming traffic and cause accidents! Tut tut Big B! Hope you all have a laugh watching this one, it amused me big time!

DJ Sachy Interview (Desihits.com)

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing DJ Sachy, the master-mixer behind the tunes you hear on Desihits.com. He’s been on shows such as the ‘Arun and P Show’ which is finally making a comeback this year! He tells us more about the show and his favourite tunes below…

Lets start off easy, what is your current favourite song?

Cheryl Cole & Will.i.am – 3 Words

What are the top 5 songs played on your iPod?

  1. Cheryl Cole & Will.i.am – 3 Words
  2. Alicia Keys – Sleeping with a Broken Heart
  3. Malkit Singh Ft Mumzy – Nach Billo
  4. Trey Songz Ft Fabolous – Say Ahh
  5. David Guetta Ft Estelle – One Love Chuckie Remix

Who do you reckon is going to be big in 2010?

It’s all about this weird sounding, funny noised house music! I know its not the correct name for that genre of music, I don’t think there is one, but that is defo going to be HUGE this year! Not heard it before? Check out anything by Chuckie or Afrojack. Asian music wise, not much really kicking off in the scene.

Which songs do you reckon are going to be big in 2010?

Kevin Rudolf Ft Birdman, Jay Sean & Lil Wayne – I Made It

That song is gonna be HUGE! Not many other songs come to mind. Artists to look out for I’d say, Jaya, Chuckie, Usher, The Groovemaster and I think Jay Sean is gonna surprise us some more!

That seems like quite a mix, if you had to choose, which music genre would you say you prefer?

A little bit of everything really, can’t pick just one genre! It’s good to listen to all kinds of music!

So, how long have you been DJ’ing for?

Started learning when I was about 13 and my very first gig in a London club was when I was 16.

And what got you into DJ’ing in the first place?

My Brother! Really funny story actually, he started using this DJ/mixing software which he got his hand on (ahem, downloaded). I used to sit there in his room watching TV while he was spending hours on this program. I hated it because I thought it sounded rubbish for one and he never did anything else! One day he went out and this program was left on, so me being me I thought id have a go! Addicted to this new toy was an understatement! Ever since I fell I love with DJ’ing. My older brother (being the good Indian brother that he is) then bought me my very first pair of decks!

Do you have New Years resolutions?

Two resolutions, the first being getting into a routine which is waking up by 9am every day and getting into bed by about 1am on nights I’m not DJ’ing. The second one is to make sure I go gym at least 3 times a week.

And have you stuck to them so far?

Well I’m sitting here doing this blog interview thingy at 1.37 am so the first one has gone a little pear shaped! But it’s the weekend, I deserve a break! Still gotta be up before 9 tomorrow though. Gym – Yeah I’ve stuck to that, been going 3 times a week since Christmas, even through the arctic weather conditions in London!

What do you see yourself doing in the future?

DJ’ing & Radio. What else? Oh and maybe producing, that’s in the pipeline!

Do you find you get recognised in the street?

Errrm, yeah I do sometimes, albeit in really random places. But its all good! As much as I dislike it because I get embarrassed and dunno what to say most the time, but its good to know people do take some notice of what I do. Always got time for people that approach me out and about, send me emails, Facebook or Twitter me (which are both ‘/djsachy’ by the way…….bit of a shameless plug there!)

So the new and improved Arun and P Show is starting soon, what have you got in store for us?

Wow, where do I start! This year is gonna be big for the Arun & P show. Can’t reveal too much as yet, but its going to be different and something new! Watch this space!

When will the show be available to listen to?

Plan was for the 1st week of Jan, which got moved back to the 2nd week of Jan because of the weather in London. And now it’s going to be moved back further into the 3rd week because of technical issues. However, the first show IS recorded and I can’t wait until it goes up! Apologies for the Indian timing, I promise it’s because of issues out of our hands!

What’s the one thing you love most about your job?

The buzz from DJ’ing in front of people be it thousands, hundreds or even a handful of people is out of this world, its one of those things words just cant explain. Try it sometime? Become a DJ!

Out of all the celebs you’ve met on the show who’s been your favourite?

On the show it has to be Jay Sean. He’s one crazy dude! Always up for doing anything and having a laugh, that’s what it’s about. Not about people being boring in an interview! (Like I’m probably being right now right?)

And finally some random questions for you so we get to see a bit of the real Sachy…

If you could meet anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?

P Diddy. He’s a very inspirational dude, his story to being what he is today is great. I’ve grown up listening to all his music and all the artists on his label and I wear his clothes too! (not HIS clothes but you know what I mean – ‘Sean John’ all the way) But I think Id be scared of meeting him! The best would be if I met him and slyly gave him a mix CD by me and asked if he has any tour DJ vacancies? Lol (Keep dreaming Sach)

If you were a biscuit which would you be?

Random question! I don’t really do biscuits so it’s a bit of a hard question. Id say and Oreo though just because they’re nice!

What’s your favourite TV show?

Match of the Day! Yes I know typical guy! It’s all about coming back from a gig on a Saturday night and watching MOTD! Best thing ever to just chill and relax to and take notes from for my fantasy football team. Love it! Lol

Give us a quote you like and tell us why.

There are two I love equally:

“Don’t tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon”

And,

“The world is yours kid, go get it”

I think the first one is from a song I heard and the second one was from an interview I saw a few years back of Usher. Can’t really say why I like them, they have just both stuck with me since I heard them and always keep me going when sometimes things are tough!

Just wanna finally say I hope you haven’t fallen asleep yet, lol, and a massive thank you for reading this on the Fuse Asia Blog (BIG UP) Keep in touch with me on Facebook and Twitter (yes I will reply back to everyone) and tune into The Arun & P show with DJ Sachy on Desihits.com! Have a fab 2010! x

A final quick note from me; I would like to say a huuuuge big thanks to Sachy for taking the time out to answer the questions I posed to him for the FuseAsia Blog.  I’ll definately be checking out the Arun and P show soon and hopefully you’ll decide to as well. Here’s a taster of a previous show of theirs…as if you need anymore convincing! Go check it out!

Book Reading Challenge 2010

So I was doing a bit of blog browsing earlier and other bloggers are taking part in the “Read 100 books in one year” thinger, as shown here. I’m a bookworm so I’m gonna take part too. I’ll keep editing this post with the latest books I’ve read & give them a rating from 1 to 10. I’ve made a good start already & read 3 already this year. Woo, go me!

I’m a fan of the TV show True Blood so I’ve started off by reading the books the tv show’s based on, I got them for Christmas, and you guessed it, they have the recurring theme of death and vampires.

  1. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
  2. Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris
  3. Club Dead by Charlaine Harris
  4. Dead T0 The World by Charlaine Harris

I’ll group these all together and give them an 8/10, I still think I prefer the show though.
